SPANNING TWO YEARS, FROM 1 NOVEMBER 2016 TO 31 OCTOBER 2018, THIS PROJECT WAS ESTABLISHED AS SEVERAL PHASES
The Orpheus partners launch a European-wide call to identify the refugee musicians. The musicians preselected on file by Jordi Savall’s team are invited to take part in a two-day selection phase at the Saline Royale of Arc-et-Senans, following which 20 of them will integrate the project.
The refugee musicians attend a great workshop led by Jordi Savall, in view of preparing them for the transmission phase with young people and children. From April, the refugee musicians give their first lessons to young people and children of any nationalities, aged from 9 to 18. These lessons will take place in conservatories, schools and social structures receiving refugees.
Start of a first series of concerts in schools, refugee associations and premises of partner cultural networks. Communication of the results in large European cities and structuring of a replicable model through the ICORN network. The music festivals of Arles, Fontfroide and Besançon will host the first concerts of the Intercultural Ensemble Orpheus XXI starting from the summer of 2017.
The children and young people showing the best abilities and a great motivation will follow workshops directed by Jordi Savall in view of a European tour that will end in August 2018.
