Jordi Savall is a globally-acknowledged musical leading figure among the most versatile of his generation: concert artist, educator, researcher and creator of musical and cultural projects, he is among the essential actors for the promotion of historic music. Deeply involved in promoting populations’ often forgotten or ignored musical memory, he directed many projects in favour of intercultural dialogue, such as for example “The Routes of Slavery” in 2015. Personally involved in the issue of the integration of refugees, Jordi Savall ventured into the heart of the “jungle” of Calais on 16 April 2016, where he improvised a concert with his viola da gamba accompanied by refugee musicians met onsite.

For Orpheus XXI, he selected a team of eight professional musicians of diverse origins with proven skills in the area of musical practice and training.
